Details:
Established in Portugal in 1938. The purpose of the British Council is to build mutually beneficial relationships between people in the UK and other countries and increased appreciation of the ideas and achievements of the UK. Partnerships is the key to understanding our work and our aims. Globally, we have offices in 216 towns and cities in 109 countries, teaching English, administering exams, and 'brokering' relationships and partnerships between professionals in Education, the Arts, Science and Technology, and Libraries and Information. We deal in 'human capital' which is another way of saying we are an organisation which is about people. We have been in Portugal for over 60 years, in our main centres in Lisbon, Coimbra and Oporto and are proud of our contribution to the positive relationship, based on mutuality, which exists between the United Kingdom and Portugal.
