It is located in Carcavelos, half way between Lisbon and Cascais, within easy reach of Carcavelos railway and bus stations. IPS has an average enrolment of 180 children in 10 classes from Playgroup to and including Year 6.

Specialist teachers for Portuguese, French, Dutch, English as an Additional Language (EAL), Physical education (PE), Learning Support / Special Needs, Art and Music are used to give extra support to the classroom teachers. The National Curriculum of England is adhered to in all curriculum classes. Children are tested at the statutory testing levels (Key Stage 1 and 2). The tasks and tests are administered at school and are marked and verified by the EDEXCEL Foundation of London.

Computers are used throughout the curriculum and are situated in the classrooms. All computers within the junior classes are networked and connected to the internet. To extend the knowledge of subjects learned within the classroom, children participate in field trips and educational visits which are regularly arranged throughout the year both locally and occasionally abroad.
