British Consulate Online Booking Service

The British Consulates in Portugal have this week launched a brand new online service for customers to use in order to book appointments for notarial services. This service will allow customers to book their appointments from the comfort of their own homes at any time of the day and receive immediate confirmation.
The British Consulates in Portugal (and in the Canary Islands) are the first among all British consular missions abroad to pilot this online booking system. If this proves successful, we expect Portugal's experience to be replicated by British Consulates in other countries.
The type of notarial services provided by the British Consulates include, amongst others, legalising translations, taking oaths or affirmations and notices of marriage.
Statistics show that during 2010 Consulates in Portugal provided 2787 notarial and documentary services.
More Information about the service For some time notarial services have been carried out on an appointment basis at our Consulates. This meant sending an email and waiting for a reply to know whether the appointment was confirmed or not. Now to make things easier for all our customers booking an appointment is literally just a click away.
The online service includes easy to follow links to the respective Consulates on our website www.ukinportugal.fco.gov.uk. Each consulate has its own site with its own calendar but once customers have registered with us, they can choose any of the other British Consulates in the country if that is more convenient for them.
The registration part is extremely straightforward as only an email address and mobile phone number is required. Then it is just a case of choosing the service required, clicking on the available day and time and clicking send. The confirmation email will come immediately and a reminder will be sent out at least 24 hours prior to the appointment. Customers can even save their appointment on their outlook calendar to keep things organised.
For customers who are not able to book online, it will still be possible to book an appointment by contacting us on 808 20 35 37 (or +351 21 395 4082 if calling from outside Portugal).
